We tried it, and wow: Here's the dill on Sonic's new pickle juice slush

Sonic Drive-In is selling pickle juice slushes.

But ... why?

"Quite simply, pickle juice is fun," Scott Uehlein, vice president at Sonic, said in a story on TODAY Food. And during a taste test on Monday, June 11 -- the first day pickle juice slushes became available -- we can confirm that Uehlein is right: This chartreuse-colored frozen drink is indeed fun. It's salty and tart.

Sonic's new pickle juice slush has qualities of a salted-rim margarita without the tequila.

And it'll make you pucker your lips. (An added bonus is that, uh, your legs won't cramp up? Calling all runners.)

Don't order a large-sized slush like we did, though: It's way too much salty, sweet green stuff for one person. And try to pair it with some fried food. A few bites of Sonic's Ched 'R' Peppers, dipped in ranch, cooled the potency of the pickle juice slush.
