Want your doughnut, Georgie?

Popular doughnut shop Hurts Donut has been going viral this week with their offer of "scary clown deliveries." If you want to creep out your friends, enemies, or possibly yourself, you can have doughnuts delivered to you by a creepy clown. Because why not?

"We always try to keep up with the trends, and clowns are trending right now," says Hurts Donut co-owner Kas Clegg. "It's fall, and it's getting close to Halloween, so we just wanted to spice it up a little bit and do a super fun delivery." While she did see the horror movie It, that's not what prompted the promotion. "We just love scary clowns."

At diet-busting Hurts Donut in Frisco, 'people buy doughnuts faster than we can make them'

The delivery fee for Hurts Donut is $5, but there's an additional $5 fee for the clown delivery. On top of the cost of the doughnuts themselves, of course. Clown deliveries are only available Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26.

The promotion went viral the same day they posted it, Clegg says. It was posted to the individual Facebook pages of various Hurts Donut locations, including the one in Frisco, which opened earlier this year.

Unfortunately for many D-FW sugar fans, it's only a local deal. This clown is bound to Frisco addresses. However, the Frisco store posted on Facebook Thursday morning, "If we have enough interest in surrounding communities, let us know in the comments below, we may pick a day for out of town clown deliveries as well!"

So how does one find a creepy clown to deliver donuts for their company? Is that something you can look up in the yellow pages?

"My clown is my babysitter's husband," Clegg says, talking about her store in Springfield, Mo. "The Frisco store [clown] is the owner."

If you miss this themed delivery promotion, don't worry. Hurts Donut does them a lot. "We actually do them all the time, this is just the first time it's gone viral," Clegg says. "On Valentine's Day, we have cupid deliveries where we actually have a guy in a diaper with wings and a bow and arrow."

So if you'd rather embarrass your friends than scare them, don't worry, your time will come.
