If you haven't heard, the suburbs are cool. (Special shoutout to Plano.) Canadian restaurant Earls Kitchen + Bar adds even more cool to the hot Dallas 'burbs now that it is open at Plano's most anticipated shopping and dining destination, Legacy West.
Earls serves internationally diverse dishes such as bibimbap and chicken curry in addition to a "Texas-inspired" plate.
During lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends, the menu is mostly made up of American staples such as burgers and ribs. Some of the more global flavors, which are considered staff favorites, include Korean hot stone rice bowl called bibimbap and and jeera chicken curry, a recipe borrowed from a neighboring Indian shop at the original Canadian location in Edmonton.
For dessert, the menu includes sticky toffee chocolate pudding or strawberry cheesecake. Head Chef Chris Meemes, who started as a 17-year-old dishwasher at Earls, leads the culinary team in Plano.
At happy hour, Earls Kitchen + Bar does $5 Margarita Mondays and Sushi Wednesdays for $4 off. Other menu bites at happy hour include truffle fries and Korean chicken wings that lower in price ($5-11).

You'll feel right at home at Earls' bar: Beverage director Cameron Bogue says the bartenders' hospitality is important to the company. His menu features whiskey sours and Moscow mules, and house specialties such as frozen pink lemonade and pitchers of cocktails.
The opening in Plano marks the first Earls in Texas and the 69th location in North America for the family-owned restaurant.
Earls first opened as a beer and burger joint in Canada 35 years ago. And while Earls Kitchen + Bar is considered a chain, GM Chelsea Burns says the restaurant hopes it's "unchaining the chain."
To decorate the restaurant, the Plano team commissioned local artists to produce artwork, including a giant mural in the lounge by Dallas artist Kyle Steed.
Hip wall decor prints, which add to the sophisticated, modern design of the store, include Dallas images and sayings.
Back to that Texas dish: Inspired by our great state and Texans' love for meat, chef Meemes added a 14-ounce rib-eye steak to the menu sourced from the buzzy 44 Farms in Cameron in Central Texas. Pair this dish with a side of buttery mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Earls might be a good place for a birthday party, for a Cowboys watch party, for girls night out or for dinner on a pleasant evening on its patio. The open kitchen also allows guests to catch chefs in action in this homey restaurant.
Earls Kitchen + Bar opened June 14 and is located next to Shake Shack and across from athletic store Fabletics at Legacy West.
