Bacon-burger place beefs up Greenville Avenue in Dallas June 19 with three-story restaurant

Slater's 50/50 earned its name because many of its burgers are made with 50 percent ground beef and 50 percent ground bacon. Think about that for a moment.

Dallas is the land of patios. Even people from California know that.

When California burger restaurant Slater's 50/50 takes over the former Greenville Bar & Grill on Greenville Avenue in Dallas on June 19, they plan to open a three-level place with a bar on each floor and a patio on top. It should fit right in.

Yeah, that's a burger that's half bacon.

The restaurant also sells burgers made with 100 percent beef for health nuts. And veggie patties and turkey burgers for crazy people. (I'm kidding.) The extensive menu includes a Peanut Butter & Jellousy burger: a beef patty, slices of bacon, peanut butter and strawberry jelly on a wheat bun. Just like mom used to make?

The boozy milkshakes are bound to be popular, including the build-your-own milkshake option with bacon as one of the mix ins.

A press release says the restaurant expects to sell 1,000 different beers in a single calendar year. It's one guy's or gal's job -- the "beer monger" -- to coordinate that ever-changing beer list.

This Slater's 50/50 will be the company's first restaurant in Texas and its first franchise outside of California. It's expected to open June 19 at 2817 Greenville Ave. in Dallas.
