3 places to get free sweet treats in D-FW on March 20, including at dozens of Dairy Queens for Free Cone Day

Monday, March 20, the first day of spring, feels a lot more like summer in Dallas-Fort Worth. With expected temperatures in the 80s, it may very well be ice cream weather in March.

Good thing: Two companies are handing out ice-cold freebies in Dallas-Fort Worth on Monday, March 20, and one's handing out another sweet treat. Here's how to get all three:

Free Italian ice from Rita's Italian Ice

All over the country, Rita's Italian Ice is giving away free Italian ices, any flavor, on Monday, March 20. Of those 600-some locations, three are in Dallas-Fort Worth:

• 410 W Southlake Blvd., Southlake
• 501 N Industrial Blvd., #200, Bedford

The company hopes to give away free Italian ice to more than 1 million people on March 20. (They've been doing it since 1992, so they've got some experience here.) The company also sells milkshakes, frozen custards, custard cookie sandwiches, and blendinis (a mix of Italian ice, custard and toppings).

In addition to Free Cone Day, it's also National Macaron Day. Uptown Dallas bakery Bisous Bisous Patisserie is giving away free banana split macarons on Monday, March 20 until 7 p.m. Get there before they're gone!

Free ice cream from Dairy Queen

At Dairy Queens participating in Free Cone Day on Monday, March 20, anyone can receive one small ice cream cone with vanilla soft serve. There's a one-cone limit per customer, and the deal is good all day at Dairy Queens.

While you're there, Dairy Queen will be collecting donations for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the TODAY show reports. Dairy Queen has raised more than $120 million for it over more than 30 years, TODAY says.
