You know it's autumn when Starbucks releases its Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Here's a new one: You know it's Christmastime when Shake Shack announces its holiday desserts?

What's the deal with Shake Shack? An explainer for hungry Dallasites

Shake Shack in Dallas, which opened with much fanfare on Sept. 1, is debuting three milkshakes and a chocolate lover's hot cocoa. Let me explain:

  1. Brownie batter hot chocolate: A cup of hot cocoa made with bittersweet dark chocolate and fudge sauce, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. (So it's not sinful at all, obviously.) Available Nov. 1 through March 31 for $3.89.
  2. Christmas cookie milkshake: sugar cookie frozen custard. Available Nov. 14-Jan. 1 for $5.79.

  3. Chocolate peppermint milkshake: chocolate frozen custard blended with peppermint. Available Nov. 14-Jan. 1 for $5.79.

  4. Pumpkin pie milkshake: actual pumpkin pie from a shop in Brooklyn blended with vanilla frozen custard. Available Nov. 14-Jan. 1 for $5.79.

"The feedback from our guests was so overwhelming that we wanted to bring them back," said Mark Rosati, Shake Shack's culinary director, speaking of the company's holiday shakes during a Facebook Live reveal from the Daily Beast.
