Maine restaurateur bans diners who support right to own high-powered semi-automatic weapons

Following the massacre in June at a nightclub in Orlando, Fla., a Maine restaurateur wrote in a post on Facebook that not only is anyone who owns a high-powered semiautomatic rifle similar to the one used in that massacre not welcome in her two restaurants, but that anyone who supports the idea of owning such a weapon is also not welcome.

Some restaurants, including Whataburger, Chipotle, Starbucks, Sonic Drive-In and Chili's Grill and Bar, request that diners refrain from bringing firearms into their establishments.

On the day that campus carry takes effect in Texas, The New York Times reports that Anne Verrill, a restaurateur in pro-gun, largely rural Maine, takes the restaurant gun ban one step further. Following the massacre in June at a nightclub in Orlando, Verrill wrote in a post on Facebook that not only is anyone who owns a high-powered semi-automatic rifle similar to the one used in Florida not welcome in her two restaurants, but that anyone who supports the idea of owning such a weapon is also not welcome.
