As far as retro hotels go, many Dallasites agree Belmont Hotel in West Dallas ranks up there with the best of the quirky-cool. South-proud Garden & Gun magazine will feature the hotel in its June/July issue as one of the best reimagined inns for travelers.
The issue lands on May 24.
Says Garden & Gun of the Belmont Hotel in Dallas and its affiliated restaurant and bar:
"... Locals and savvy travelers alike now mob chef Tim Byres’s on-site restaurant, Smoke, for traditional Texas barbecue and its Carolina cousin. After dinner, fetch a cocktail from the lobby lounge and head outside for a sweeping view of the Dallas skyline."
All good advice.
It's all part of G&G's "Great Southern Road Trips" story. Other Texas hot spots mentioned in the story include the retro-chic Thunderbird Hotel in Marfa; the Stonehenge of cars at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo; and the historic dance hall in Luckenbach.
