When Dallas chef Dean Fearing walks into the State Fair of Texas every year, he does what a lot of Texans do: He marches over to the Fletcher's Corny Dogs stand and orders one of the fair's most beloved bites, an original corny dog. Then he orders a beer. They just go together, he says.
One of the few places to find Fletcher's famous 'dogs are during those few weeks in the fall at the State Fair of Texas. But the family has decided to sell its corny dogs early this year, on June 10 and 11, during Fair Park's 80th anniversary party.
This year marks the first time Fletcher's Corny Dogs will be for sale at a Fair Park event that isn't the State Fair of Texas.
And why not? The 80th anniversary party seemed like fun, said Glenda Fletcher, business manager for Fletcher's Corny Dogs.
Employees will sell all of Fletcher's 'dogs -- the original, the jalapeno and cheese, the turkey and the new-since-2015 meatless dog -- from their Fletcher's structure on the Midway in Fair Park. Each costs $5, except for the jalapeno and cheese: $6.

Fans of Fletcher's will then have to wait until Sept. 30, the first day of the State Fair of Texas, to get another deep-fried Fletcher's Corny Dog in Dallas.
Glenda Fletcher says the family has more surprises planned this year but wouldn't tell: "We've got something different coming to the Fair, too," she hints.
Fair Park's 80th Anniversary is a free event June 8-11. Activities include a performance by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, games on the Midway, fireworks and a wine stroll. The festival is using the marketing services of CrowdSource, which is owned by The Dallas Morning News, GuideLive's parent company. The newspaper is sponsoring the event.
