Leave your egos at the door at Fat Shack, then order a sandwich called the Fat Slob or the Fat Cow. Maybe toss in a side of deep-fried Oreos for dessert.
At a place where a dozen french fries and a blob of mac and cheese come on a sandwich, nobody's counting calories.
Fat Shack, now open in Denton, proudly sells bad-for-you-food. The owners acknowledge they're "not trying to hide anything," says Kevin Gabauer in an interview in early April.
“We’re here to be that spot for someone to come and eat something awesome – something not in their typical diet.”
Perhaps most notably, Fat Shack will deep-fry any item you bring into the shop for $1.
The co-owners have fried slices of pizza, Snickers bars and more. Fat Shack is basically like a State Fair of Texas concessionaire, open year round. Except this new Denton restaurant is way more affordable.
