At Taco Bueno, the service and food are truly more bueno, according to a new study.
Data firm Market Force Information recently released a consumer survey about Americans' favorite quick-service restaurant chains in four categories -- pizza, chicken, sandwiches and Mexican food.
Farmers Branch-based Taco Bueno edged out reigning champs Chipotle and Qdoba, which tied for first place in 2015, garnering the chain's first title as the national favorite.
"We are thrilled that Taco Bueno is receiving national recognition for our fresh-made Tex-Mex,” said Taco Bueno CEO & President Mike Roper in a statement. "Our commitment to preparing food fresh in house -- with real cooks in real kitchens -- makes the difference."
Though Taco Bueno was the overall fave, the company only ranked first in one of several selling points: the value. Otherwise, Chipotle dominated in terms of food quality and healthfulness, and quickest service, the survey found, while Southern California-based Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill took honors as the chain with the best atmosphere, cleanest facilities and friendliest service.
Founded in 1967, Taco Beuno opened its first location in Abilene, Texas and since expanded to more than 175 locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri and Arkansas. The company prides itself on using "100 percent fresh ground beef, real cheddar cheese and salsas made from scratch." But we love it for the platters and because it's a good price.
Not to brag, but Texas love tacos, so we're not too surprised with the survey's results.

Mexican food: Taco Bueno, though 'round these parts we call it Tex-Mex
Chicken: Chick-Fil-A, the winner for a second year in what Market Force calls an increasingly competitive space. Americans love chicken, y'all!
Sandwiches: McAlister's Deli, which squeaked into the top spot by less than 1 percent over Firehouse Subs.
Pizza: Papa Murphy's, the winner for a third consecutive year. People seem to love the quality and healthfulness of the food, as well as the restaurant's quick service and cleanliness.
Market Force Information is a data company that helps businesses protect brand identity through consumer surveys, mystery shopping and data analysis. It polled more than 10,000 people ages 18 to 65-plus, the majority of whom were female. See the full report here.
