Need fried-food fix before State Fair? Head to Houston for scorpion pizza

The State Fair of Texas is still months away, but Texans hungry for deep-fried decadence can satisfy that craving at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The annual event is serving up treats such as deep-fried, bacon-wrapped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and bacon-flavored cotton candy, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Want something savory instead of sweet? Try a deep-fried pickle that has a hot dog buried in it or the Frosted-Flakes crusted chicken served with maple syrup.

Dominic Palmieri oversees the treats offered at the rodeo and manages the food booths outside Houston's NRG Stadium.

So what else has Palmieri cooked up this year? Pork belly wrapped in bacon, mac-and-cheese-topped baked potatoes and deep-fried pecan pie topped with Nutella, according to The Chronicle.
