The first thing to know about Oreo's new Filled Cupcake cookies is they don't taste like Ding Dongs you so loved as a child. The photo on the front of the packaging would make you believe you're eating a cookie version of the beloved Hostess Brands treat, but this is actually just an Oreo with chocolate fudge in the middle.
And it's damn good.
A team of Dallas Morning News tasters tries nearly every new Oreo flavor -- and there are many -- and the new Filled Cupcakes are nearly as good as the group favorite Oreo, Brownie Batter.
The Filled Cupcake Oreos have a dot of white creme in the middle, but the star is the chocolate fudge.
Filled Cupcake Oreos become available nationwide Feb. 8 at retailers that sell Oreos. If you're a cookie fiend, look out for Cinnamon Bun Oreos, a new flavor we highly recommend. Skip the new Red Velvet Oreos with cream cheese creme; you can find better Valentine's-colored cookies elsewhere.
