The star of Cake Boss is bringing his made-for-TV bakery to Texas. Buddy Valastro, the New Jersey pastry chef that made Carlo's Bakery famous, picked Dallas as his first Lone Star State stop.
Carlo's Bakery has grown from New Jersey to New York, Connecticut, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Florida. The Dallas shop, expected in March 2016, will make 13 Carlo's Bakeries nationwide.
Valastro and his team picked a posh part of Dallas to launch: Preston Center, located at the southwest corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway, on the cusp of ritzy Highland Park and University Park. Across Preston, the famed Sprinkles cupcakes and Sprinkles ice cream are another example of out-of-state sweets shops that found a home at this intersection.
Those who watch TLC's Cake Boss will recognize some of the sweets planned for Carlo's Bakery, such as Valastro's cannolis (fried shells filled with ricotta cheese and chocolate chips) and lobster tails (puff pastries laced with Bailey's Irish Cream).
Carlo's Bakery also sells custom cakes for weddings or birthdays, some very elaborate, like this five-tier creation. The Dallas shop will also make custom cakes.
