We've known Dallas would get its first Tacodeli since early 2015. The Austin-born restaurant has spawned five locations in the Capitol City. The Dallas Tacodeli will be the first outside of Central Texas.
"Dallas has a great taco culture, and we are excited to be part of it," said founder Roberto Espinosa many months ago. And yes, "taco culture" is real.
Dallas' Tacodeli will be open for breakfast and lunch. Its 40-taco menu includes a few Austin favorites such as a fish taco served with mojo-garlic sauce and a traditional al pastor. Vegetarians will find six tacos made with ingredients such as grilled mushrooms, sweet potatoes and peppers.
La Nortena Tortillas, located nearby in West Dallas, will make Tacodeli's tortillas.
The West Dallas development where Tacodeli landed -- at Sylvan Avenue and Interstate 30 -- is shaping up to be a little foodie destination spot. Tacodeli's neighbors are Ten, a ramen shop; Whisk, a crepes cafe; Cibo Divino, a pizza joint and wine shop; and Cox Farms Market, a grocery store.
1878 Sylvan Ave., Suite E100, Dallas. 214-760-1930. tacodeli.com. After Oct. 29, open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.; weekends: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.. Breakfast served all day.
