Behold, the unholy marriage of Peeps and Pumpkin Spice

You can tease all you want -- you can even get sassy or mean about it -- but Pumpkin Spice is a thing. It's a phenomenon. Sure, some consider it the epitome of "basic," but self-actualized bitches don't sweat haters anyhow. So, if you're DGAFing the naysayers, ignoring the inevitable Eddard Stark memes, and looking forward to absolutely ridiculousness combinations this fall, the most divisive wedding of the century has been announced: Pumpkin Spice meet Peeps, the reigning kings of loved-and-hated Easter candy.

As many have reported, the new Peeps come "dipped in a layer of white fudge" and are part of an arsenal of autumnal flavors from the company including caramel apple and candy corn. We saw it first at Thrillist, which jumped on a taste test. Their verdict? The Pumpkin Spice ones are, apparently, pretty darn good.

"Unlike your typical run of the clearance candy Peeps, these Peeps actually taste like something. In fact, the fluffy marshmallow component lives up to its pumpkin spice promise with powerful cinnamon and nutmeg flavors, and a slight hint of pumpkin. It all sort of tastes like how a pumpkin pie candle smells (which isn't exactly desirable), but the layer of white fudge at the bottom saves the day," they report, our emphasis.

So, there you have it. If you ever had the urge to press your finger into liquid wax surrounding a Pumpkin Spice candle flame and take a lick, this may be a better solution. Let's hope Peeps offer a "Conifer" variety around Christmastime and a "Clean Cotton" next spring.
