You don't need another reason to purchase a Slurpee or a pint of ice cream in the heat of the summer. But fine, here's another: 7-Eleven has a new line of ice creams, available now, and debuts a Sour Patch Kids watermelon-flavored Slurpee on July 1.

The 7-year-old inside me is smiling.

No word yet on how sweet or sour the new Slurpee is; we haven't tried it.

As for the ice cream, it's darn delicious.

These are good.

These are good.

Dallas Morning News tasters tried samples of the Sea Salt Caramel Truffle and the Toasted S'Mores. Each have ribbons running through the ice cream: caramel in the sea salt truffle, marshmallows in the s'mores. For gas station ice cream, this stuff's a hit.

The ice cream became available June 1 and comes in other flavors we didn't try: banana cream pie, double cookie dough, fudge marshmallow, Oh Thank Heaven for chocolate, and vanilla bean.

There's a real risk that you might eat an entire pint. Know before you go, guys: You're looking at about 1,000 calories in one pint.

Summer's the season for testing out new products, it seems. Take a look at some other odd, new items:

Pizza Hut, based in Plano, debuted a hot dog pizza just in time for the Fourth of July. Wendy's is doing bacon fries. A brisket cheesecake dessert shack just popped up in Dallas, for goodness' sakes.  Makes the sour watermelon Slurpee seem "normal," no?

Norma Cavazos, Brentney Hamilton, Britton Peele, Tiney Ricciardi, Shannon Sutlief and Amanda Wilkins contributed to this taste test.
