Notable French bakery now open on Dallas' Lowest Greenville

The newly christened Boulangerie by Village Baking Co. has owned the French bakery turf in Dallas just about since it opened in 2004, first as a farmers market favorite, then with a bricks-and-mortar location on University Boulevard in the old Whole Foods bakehouse. The store quickly expanded its hours from two days a week to seven.

When a newbie location flings open its doors May 14 on Greenville Avenue, it will serve with an expanded menu that includes French delicacies such as a ham-and-cheese baguette, duck confit baguette, croque monsieur and a greater variety of croissants and other baked goods.

Baker-co-owner Clint Cooper has earned the elevated boulangerie designation by concentrating on slow-rising yeast breads.

“The name 'Boulangerie' above our door," he says, "means we are very focused on yeasted products." Need a birthday cake? Order it someplace else.

"We will be baking on-site daily with warm baguettes crackling out of the oven, made every few hours,” says Clint. He owns the bakery with wife, Kim.
