Truluck's in Uptown was a quaint, cramped seafood house located on the corner of McKinney and Maple avenues. That restaurant is long gone: It was demolished and made into a parking lot in recent months so a new, two-story Truluck's could open behind it.
Some Dallas diners have grumbled that Truluck's paved paradise and put up a parking lot - literally - but Operating Partner Bo Dorton says that isn't the whole story.
"I think there's misconception that it's a historic building," he says of the 1990s-era structure.
"We just outgrew that little guy," Dorton says. A much bigger Truluck's opens Monday, March 2, right behind the former restaurant. It totals 12,000 square feet.
The bar at the new Truluck's will focus on live jazz music seven days a week. The 90-seat lounge is one of the restaurant's most important upgrades, Dorton says, as the old restaurant could only seat 14 at the bar.
Truluck's will serve the same seafood menu as before, Dorton says.
