Fuel City and its famous tacos coming to Mesquite in 2015

Dallasites know when they have a hankering for tacos, Fuel City gas station is one of the city's best bets. Even The Food Network's Alton Brown knows that.

Come summer 2015, Mesquite residents will get a taste of the action too. Fuel City announced Monday it will open a new location on a 17-acre property at the intersection of Town East Boulevard and Samuel Boulevard, just off Highway 80. It will be Fuel City’s third location in Texas behind Dallas and Lufkin.

The new spot, which will be almost double the size of the downtown location at 11,000 square feet, will serve Fuel City's renown Mexican street tacos as well as house Mesquite's first Original Fried Pie Shop. It will have 24 gas pumps along with eight truck diesel pumps, and like its predecessors, Fuel City will be open 24/7, serving tacos around the clock.

Fuel City owner John Benda says he hopes to have exotic animals, including camels, alpaca and longhorns, grazing at the new location, but has yet to get approval from the city to do so. (The Dallas location has longhorns onsite.)

Fuel City was one of the first places in Dallas to recently offer gas for less than $2. The tacos here have been praised as some of the best in the area by Texas Monthly and D Magazine.
