Check out the 100 best restaurants in D-FW, according to Yelp users

Sometimes the best way to get a restaurant recommendation is to seek the advice of someone  who's been there. That's the idea behind Yelp, anyway — it's a place for people to log their experiences around town and to share those with others. Yelp reviewers rate businesses and leave an explanation of how each experience went.

With all that data, the elves behind Yelp Dallas and Yelp Fort Worth were able to pull lists of which restaurants are considered to be the best in town, as rated by their thousands of Yelp users. The San Francisco-based company measured the number of reviews as well as the overall star ratings in Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, Collin, Rockwall and Kaufman counties.

(Of course, you could also consult Dallas Morning News critic Leslie Brenner's list of her top 100 restaurants. It's a good one.)

As you peruse the list below, note the variety: In the top 10, there's an underground restaurant, a taqueria, a cheese shop, a German deli and a sushi restaurant. (Now, whether these are truly the best restaurants in town is up to you and your taste buds.)

Then tell us: What did Yelpers get right? What did they get wrong?

1. Frank — Dallas:an "underground" restaurant where dinners are by invitation only. An average of its 43 reviews reveals an incredibly high 5 stars out of 5.

2. Empa Mundo: empanadas restaurant in Irving with 370 reviews averaging 4.5 stars.

3. Taqueria La Esperanza: Though this Lewisville empanada spot has only 30 reviews on Yelp, the average is 5 stars.

4. Scardello: The cheese shop on Oak Lawn has amassed 175 Yelp reviews that average 4.5 stars.

5. Pedro's Tex-Mex and Grill: Its 16 reviews give 5 stars each, making it one of only a few that have a perfect 5-star score. Pedro's is located in Pilot Point.

6. The Capital Grille: Referring to the Fort Worth restaurant specifically, Yelpers gave it an average 4.5 stars out of 5.

7. German Deli: Colleyville's German Deli is a market and not a restaurant, but Yelpers are crazy for it: 5 stars on average.

8. Chateau Bistro: This Rockwall restaurant also gets a perfect 5-star review from its 15 reviewers.

9. Keiichi: Dentonites looking for sushi might turn to Keiichi, easily the favorite Denton restaurant on Yelp. Its 98 reviews average 4.5 stars.

10. Jimmy's Food Store: The beloved sandwich shop and market in Dallas has 380 reviews — the highest number in the top 10 — and clocks in at 4.5 stars, on average.
