Earth Day Texas

This three-day festival offers an expanded slate of speakers, exhibits and fun related to preserving our planet. Opening day includes a Celebrities For Change gala with notables including Lance Bass, Malin Akerman and Amy Smart (individual tickets will set you back $500; go to earthdaytx.org/ema for info). There'll be a Tiny House Village, a Lego building station that focuses on sustainability, food and drink from local restaurants and breweries and Texas music from Kinky Friedman, Michael Martin Murphey, Telegraph Canyon, The O's and more.

See some of the best parts of Dallas at this new, one-day festival at Klyde Warren Park. Discover the flavor of 12 Dallas neighborhoods – including Bishop Arts District, Deep Ellum, Lakewood and Uptown – and see what each has to offer as you meet people who live or work there and sample foods from local restaurants and bakeries. You can even go on digital scavenger hunts using the Kwest iPhone app, though having the app isn’t required to enjoy the fest. Local musical talent including Mix Magyk, Nubia, Armstead, Sun Over Sea and Diamond Kings will perform throughout the day.

Grand Prairie Main Street Fest

Celebrate the fun, festive, family atmosphere of Grand Prairie with a variety of novelty entertainment, carnival rides, arts and crafts, stunt shows and food and beer gardens. Live music will be performed on four entertainment stages with talent including Cody Canada and the Departed, Granger Smith (and his alter-ego Earl Dibbles Jr.), Prophets and Outlaws, the Tejas Brothers, Jolie Holliday, Los Lobos and more. A kids’ zone means there’ll be plenty of fun for all.

April 22 from 5 p.m. to midnight, April 23 from 9 a.m. to midnight, April 24 from noon to 8 p.m. in the 200 block of West Main Street, Grand Prairie. Free.

Brewfest on Crockett

This craft beer and music festival in the West 7th entertainment district in Fort Worth returns for the sixth year featuring microbrews, bites from West 7th restaurants, sidewalk vendors and musical performances headlined by Poo Live Crew. As in past years, there’s no admission fee – you just pay for what you eat and drink. Quaffs in the lineup include Deep Ellum’s Neato Bandito, Bishop Cider Nectar, Community Mosaic, Real Ale’s Firemans #4, Goose Island Honkers and more. Arrive early with three friends in tow to compete in the second annual Brewfest Games, a relay course with games such as giant beer pong, Dizzy Lizzy and more ($48 team registration in advance gets you special VIP perks, but you can also register on the day of the event for $60). Awards are given on the basis of speed, accuracy, costumes and hilarity ensued. For more information, visit the festival website.

This family-friendly event takes place in Trinity Park, a 33-acre plot along the Trinity River that’s one of the best green spaces in Fort Worth. The fest offers live music from more than 40 bands, performances from another 40 arts groups, the Mayfest Run, festival food, carnival rides, bounce houses, free children’s activities, a petting zoo, paddle boats, rock-climbing, zip-lining, people-watching, art and a gift market with 60 vendors.

April 28-29 from 3:30 to 10 p.m., April 30 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., May 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Trinity Park, 2401 University Drive, Fort Worth. $8 general admission, $5 for people ages 3-12 or 60 and older, free for kids 2 and younger. A $25 family pass covers up to five people.
