PRAIRIE LIGHTS This two-mile drive-through exhibit features 3 million lights. Visit the holiday village for refreshments and other items for purchase, as well as a 10-minute holiday light show choreographed to music (for an extra charge of $2 for adults, $1 for kids). CHRISTMAS IN THE SQUARE Light show at Frisco Square urban complex is synchronized to holiday music. There will also be family activities such as carriage rides, a snow machine, outdoor movies and a parachuting Santa scheduled on various days throughout December (check the Web site for details). CHRISTMAS LIGHT TOUR Airplane tours of area holiday light displays presented by Starlight Flight. Hour and half-hour tours depart from Addison Airport, 4505 Claire Chennault, Addison. FAIR PARK IN LIGHTS Dallas Park and Recreation Department presents its annual holiday festival and tree-lighting featuring a display of brightly lighted trees and decorations along the Esplanade at Fair Park. Visitors can take a ride on the Texas SkyWay aerial tram. They can also enjoy live entertainment, face painting, a snow hill, holiday characters and photos with Santa Claus. Also available are a miniature train ride, carriage rides and hayrides. Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. The tree-lighting ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m., preceded by a candlelight tribute to the military. MIRACLE DALLAS Victory Park celebrates the spirit of holiday giving with this event that features an outdoor ice-skating rink, movies on the big screens (White Christmas, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.), entertainment, refreshments, holiday lights and photos with Santa. Each night, "miracles" will be granted by local charities and organizations. Continues through Dec. 30. HOLIDAY AT THE ARBORETUM Dallas Arboretum's yuletide festival takes on a fairy-tale theme this year with decorative vignettes based on beloved children's tales and nursery rhymes. On Family Fun Days (Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., through Dec. 30) there will be carriage rides, make-and-take-home holiday crafts, portraits with Santa, holiday stories and music. SIX FLAGS' HOLIDAY IN THE PARK Amusement park's annual Christmas celebration will feature carolers, stage shows, children's karaoke, and a nightly Looney Tunes show and parade. Attractions will include Snow Hill and the Santa Express Train Ride, a miniature Christmas village, Lionel model trains, and the popular "Parade of Trees" exhibit. Through Jan 2. "ICE!" Exhibit features a winter wonderland hand-carved from 2 million pounds of ice by artisans from Harbin, China. NATIVE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS The Native Arts Center and Gallery presents a collection of handcrafted ornaments by Patricia Baxter-Shebola, a member of the Hopi and Zuni Pueblos of Arizona. KIDS' EVENTS

HOLIDAY CIRCUS Fifth-generation circus performer Fanny Kerwich gave up the traveling life when she married and started a family with Mark Doyle of Dallas. But she was determined to create a circus here. Lone Star Circus, the performing arm of her new nonprofit arts center, will present a circus that features performers from around the world, including acrobats from Argentina, an aerialist from Peru and a contortionist from Mongolia, along with local clowns Slappy and Monday, and kids who have trained at her circus school. ALOHA ADVENTURE PARK
WHAT'S THERE: The Grand Festival of Lights, benefiting Christian Community Action, features more than a million lights (illuminated reindeer, a train and more), a live Nativity presentation, Santa's crafts village, holiday fare and hayrides. Through Jan. 5. Sundays through Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. (closed Christmas Day), Fridays and Saturdays 5 to 11 p.m. Free admission; activities generally range from $1 to $6 each.

DEERFIELD
WHAT'S THERE: The neighborhood association's elaborate display is one of Collin County's biggest. Santas and sleighs, cheerful snowmen, Nativity scenes, jump-roping gingerbread people and just about every other type of holiday decoration you could think of brighten yards throughout. Free to view.

•The Zephries residence, 4540 Old Pond Drive, features 104,000 lights. Music synchronized to the lights will be broadcast on FM station 92.3. Visit with Santa on Saturdays from 6 to 8 p.m. through Dec. 22. On any night, visitors may bring donations of toys for U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Foundation (meet Marines in person Friday) and nonperishable food for the North Texas Food Bank. Hours of display: Sundays through Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 6 to 11 p.m. unless raining or wet, through Dec. 31. FAIR PARK IN LIGHTS
WHAT'S THERE: Check out some cool reflections in the water on the Esplanade at Fair Park. The Dallas Park and Recreation Department is presenting its annual display of 32 lighted trees and decorations there. Daily from 5:30 until 10 p.m., through Jan. 1. Free.

FRISCO SQUARE
WHAT'S THERE: The buildings get twinkly during light shows set to music. Check out the flashing stars, wreaths and reindeer. You can get the accompanying tunes on your car radio, or you can listen on speakers outside. The free light show runs nightly from 5:30 to 10 through Jan. 2. Special weekend activities with free admission are also on tap throughout December:
• Dec. 7, there'll be a parachuting Santa, a bounce house and more from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
• Dec. 8, there'll be an outdoor showing of The Polar Express and visits with Santa from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
• There'll be carriage rides Thursdays through Sundays in December from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. (additional rides Dec. 31 and Jan. 1). Carriage rides cost $6 per person.

GAYLORD TEXAN
WHAT'S THERE: Sparkling lights (1.2 million of them) illuminate the resort's atriums for Lone Star Christmas. The 40-foot Christmas tree alone uses 25,000 bulbs. Some of the lavish displays include a life-size gingerbread house, magical train sets and replicas of historic Texas buildings nestled among the Christmas trees. Free admission (parking costs extra but can be validated; call for details).

HIGHLAND PARK
WHAT'S THERE: Tony homes are decked out with bright lights and festive lawn displays. Don't miss the giant pecan tree covered in lights on Armstrong Parkway at Preston, or the sights along Lakeside Drive. Free admission. INTERLOCHEN
WHAT'S THERE: The neighborhood features more than 200 homes on winding streets with fountains and ponds – and tons of lights. WHERE TO FIND IT: The Arlington neighborhood is between Interstate 30 and West Division Street, off West Randol Mill Road. Motorists should enter the neighborhood from Randol Mill at Westwood Drive.

PRAIRIE LIGHTS
WHAT'S THERE: The two-mile drive-through holiday spread offers 3 million lights. Displays include candy canes, toy soldiers, reindeer and elves. There's a light tunnel billed as Texas' largest and a holiday village featuring photo ops with Santa, refreshments (hot cocoa, cider, kettle corn) and a light show set to music. Through Dec. 31. Nightly starting at 6. $12 per car Mondays through Thursdays (except Christmas Day and New Year's Eve), $15 Fridays through Sundays and Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. SIX FLAGS' HOLIDAY IN THE PARK
WHAT'S THERE: The amusement park is ablaze with more than 1 million lights for this seasonal event of holiday shows, rides, crafts and activities. Step inside the lobby of the park's Majestic Theater to view a display of beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Through Jan. 2. $39.99 adults, $29.99 children.

SPRINGPARK
WHAT'S THERE: Long admired for its elaborate displays, this neighborhood plans to mix it up this year with something old and something new. Expect to see longtime favorites such as Lake Shore Drive's trains (about 30 houses on the street will have train decorations, with rope-light tracks linking each car) and Bridle Path's Peanuts-inspired decorations. This year's new themes include Parkrise Court's "Caribbean Christmas," which takes Christmas to the beach with lighted palm trees as well as polar bears and penguins decked in sunglasses. "Don't expect to see the same old same old. We're going for originality," says block representative Kay Davidson, who expects most decorations in the neighborhood to be up by Dec. 14. Another new theme is Annette Court's "International Christmas," the inspiration behind painted signs in about a dozen yards wishing passers-by Merry Christmas in various languages. Free.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS BUS TOUR See more than 200 decorated homes in Fort Worth, some of which are entered in a holiday lights competition. KESSLER PARK Kessler Neighbors United, the neighborhood association of Kessler Park, celebrates the holidays with five lighted live oak trees in the triangular median at 1415 W. Colorado Blvd. Several other medians throughout the area have Christmas trees, lights and inflatables. Many neighborhood homes also are lighted. Kessler Park is just south of Interstate 30 at Sylvan Avenue. The neighborhood extends roughly from I-30 on the north side to Stewart Drive on the south and from Plymouth Road on the west side to Sylvan on the east.
