TRAIN/TRAAIN Q & A;
Q: What's the difference
between the Airport Train and the TRAAIN?
A:
Not much. They both use the same equipment: automatic, driverless
cars. Both circulate on the same tracks. Both operate 24 hours a day.
Q: How fast do they
go?
A:
The trains/TRAAIN are slow (17.5 mph) and as old as the airport
itself. However, they have been refurbished with up-to-date technology.
The airport plans to replace them with a People Mover system that will
be faster and hold more passengers.
Q: How long should
I allow for the trains?
A:
A complete loop of the airport on the train takes about 30 minutes.
It takes 17 minutes for the TRAAIN to make complete rounds.
Q: What if they stop
or slow down?
A:
It can be a bit disconcerting when the train/TRAAIN slows down
or even comes to a complete stop as you're heading for your terminal –
and there's no driver to ask. The vehicles rarely break down, say airport
officials. If there were a breakdown, passengers would be notified by
loudspeakers inside the car and be taken by airport bus to their destinations.
And all cars are equipped with an emergency communication system.
