Why should grown-ups have all the New Year's fun? Here are some activities for the younger set.
New Year's Eve Rockin' Lock-In
Skate (or bike) into the new year at Eisenbergs Skatepark. Lock-in
festivities will include all-night skating and biking, competitions,
party favors, dinner, drinks and breakfast. Greyscale, a group from
Reno, Nev., will keep things lively with music. The event is for ages 6
to 17.
From Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. to Jan. 1 at 7 a.m. 930 E. 15th St., Plano.

New Year Celebrations Around the World
At Valley View Center, learn how and when different cultures mark the
new year. Make Chinese dragon masks, Rosh Hashana greeting cards, Greek
New Year's wreaths and noisemakers. Members of the U.S.A. Chin Woo Lion
and Dragon Dance Team will show off their best moves at the celebration,
which is geared toward ages 2 to 10.

Rock'n Lock'n
This event will let younger kids have a night out and help a group of
teenagers head to Europe. Senior Girl Scouts will baby-sit kids ages 1
to 10 to raise money for a trip to an international Girl Scout camp in
England. Snacks, games and entertainment will be provided for youngsters
at the lock-in. The Scouts have had first-aid and baby-sitter training,
and they'll be supervised by adults. Prepaid reservations are required
by Dec. 30.
