The African American Museum has teamed up with
the Dallas Historical Society to put together

FILM FESTIVAL
The Juneteenth Film Festival features celebrity
guest honorees, including actor-director Bill
Duke, singer Erykah Badu and bassist extraordinaire
Stanley Clarke. Screenings from black filmmakers
around the country will take place Friday from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Student film screenings at 6
p.m., with Emancipation Series and reception at
7 p.m. Screenings held at The Black Academy of
Arts and Letters’ Clarence Muse Cafe Theatre,

A festival party will be Friday night at 10 at Club

The annual celebration will include face painting,

CELEBRATION
DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster and Duncanville
have joined together to put on this event, which

Juneteenth Program Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at

EVANSFEST JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL
Evans Avenue Celebration Committee and Near Southeast
Community Development Corp. celebrate the continuing
development of historic Evans Avenue Plaza. The
event will feature a dedication ceremony for the
new plaza at 10 a.m.; food; live blues, jazz and
gospel music; a children’s learning area
with library books and science activities; and
historical storytelling by residents. Saturday

CELEBRATION
The Garland Parks and Recreation Department invites
the community to celebrate "Juneteenth: A
Part of Texas History." on Saturday from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gale Fields Recreation Center,
1701 Dairy Road. The NAACP Garland Branch Youth
will discuss the history of Juneteenth. Jazz band
Chill Factor, the Dance Depot and the South Garland
Folklorico dancers will perform. Gospel music,
food, prizes, a coloring contest and a bounce

CELEBRATION
The city of Grand Prairie presents this event
with a parade, food, refreshments, swimming, a
basketball tournament, children’s activities
