Style Encore, a resale chain targeted to women in their late 20s, opened Oct. 15 in Allen. The location is the chain's first in North Texas.
The consignment store buys and sells gently-used clothing, shoes and accessories designed for budget-conscious women.
Have stuff to sell? You can visit Style Encore during store hours, no appointment needed, and receive cash. Garments are then priced about 70 percent lower than mall prices, the website says.
If this concept sounds familiar, that's because it isn't exactly new.
Style Encore is franchised by Winmark Corporation, which owns similar resale chains Plato's Closet and Play It Again Sports, among others. Though Style Encore isn't as ritzy as Snider Plaza's consignment store Luxury Garage Sale, for example, the Allen store does have qualifications for what it will buy. A PR rep says it's typical for Style Encore to purchase garments that consumers bought at a retail store within the last year and a half and are "current styles seen in the mall."
The website lists Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, Chico's, J.Jill and The Limited as brands the store looks for.
Sizes 0 to 3XL are sold at the store and accepted for purchase.
Style Encore's Allen location is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The store is located at 190 E. Stacy Rd., Ste. 1334, Allen, TX 75002.
