Beer-flavored jelly beans taste as bad as they sound

Last year, Jelly Belly released a beer-flavored jelly beans, and for no other reason than I’m not a big candy person, it’s taken me this long to try them.

While they sound interesting -- created by food scientists, Hefeweizen-inspired ale flavor, sugar rush -- I can't say the flavor lived up to the buzz (or lack thereof, since these have no alcohol).

A picture is worth a thousand words, so let my reaction be your warning:

This is me after eating some beer-flavored Jelly Belly beans.

Opening the can, it smells like stale old beer; Busch, specifically. The candies themselves don't taste like much, other than sugar, but the lingering aroma of old, crappy beer remained, and it wasn't a pleasant experience.
