Since we can't root for the Cowboys in the Super Bowl, it's a good thing North Texans have to a team to cheer for on Super Bowl Sunday. Granted, this team is not in the Super Bowl, but the playful and cuddly Puppy Bowl XII.

Darby, a floppy-eared Jack Russell mix from Operation Kindness in Carrollton, will appear as part of Team Ruff in the annual cuteness spectacle on Animal Planet.

Puppy Bowl XII Watch Party

If you haven't seen the Puppy Bowl, it basically involves watching rescue puppies frolic endlessly. You can watch on Feb. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m., with repeats until 2 a.m.

Darby, a deaf pup who's about 15 weeks old, will have a starting spot in the lineup and is among 49 contenders from shelters across the United States and Puerto Rico.

If you want to see all the cute line barkers and wide retrievers with a crowd, there's a watch party for local fans at Sundown at Granada on Sunday.

Whether his team triumphs in the Puppy Bowl or not, Darby's already got a winning future in sight: He was adopted by a North Texas family shortly after tryouts.

Go, Darby, go! As you can see from this photo from the taping of Puppy Bowl XII, Darby is ready to bring it.
