Feel-good drinking: 5 beers from D-FW that support charitable causes

Dallas-Fort Worth's beer scene is often aligned with charitable causes. On any given weekend, locals can grab a pint at a brewery fundraiser or pet adoption. Even if you're headed to a beer store, there are several ways to stretch your dollar and give back.

Here are five beers brewed in North Texas that support great causes:

All Call Kolsch: This light and refreshing brew comes from Lakewood Brewing Co. and a portion of the sales benefits the Guns and Hoses Foundation of North Texas, a nonprofit that provides assistance to families of fallen first responders. Available on draft and in 12-ounce cans year-round.

Good to Go: Brent Thompson, co-founder of Texas Ale Project, is a Navy veteran. So when the brewery decided to partner with a charity on its Good to Go pale ale, serving the military was a natural fit. A portion of sales from this beer benefits Honor Courage Commitment, which provides education and training to veteran entrepreneurs. Available on draft and in 12-ounce cans year-round.

Or with:

The Badge: Prior to owning a brewery, Keith Ashley, founder of Nine Band Brewing Co., served as a police officer, fireman, and in the military. That's why proceeds from the brewery's honey blonde ale, The Badge, fund internal efforts to support similar causes, such as sponsoring teams for Carry the Load, and local police and fire departments. Available on draft and in 12-ounce cans year-round.

Charity: This German alt-stlye ale from Oak Highlands Brewery doesn't benefit just one cause, it supports multiple. Since launching in 2015, sales have benefited nine charities, including Equest and Angie's Friends. (Charities rotate on a quarterly basis.) The brewery's Oktoberfest seasonal also raises money for local charities that focus on breast cancer awareness. Available on draft year-round.
