Beer buzz: This Denton IPA is made with 5 different hop styles

Boss Raptor IPA from Audacity Brew House has a hops blend that lends a light tropical fruit and citrus zest character, and keeps a crisp, dry profile from start to finish.

Boss Raptor IPA

BREWERY: Audacity Brew House in Denton

STYLE: American style India Pale Ale. Inspired by British IPAs, but made with American hops. It has become one of the most popular styles of craft beer in the U.S. over the past decade. There's lots of variety within this category. Hops intensity and alcohol levels vary widely, and many producers experiment with brewing methods and flavored IPAs.

THE PITCH: Although made with five different hop styles, this isn't an aggressively grassy or piney IPA. The hops blend lends a light tropical fruit and citrus zest character, and keeps a crisp, dry profile from start to finish. The characteristic hops bitterness is prominent, but doesn't overwhelm the palate, thanks to a toasty malt note that tempers it. With a light body and well hidden alcohol content of 6%, this is an easy drinking beer.

FUN FACTS: Boss Raptor began as a series of hop-focused IPAs, with an ever-changing formula for each release. As Audacity added more beers to its lineup, there wasn't space for the constant brewing experiments, so the brewery stopped the series 18 months ago. After customers clamored for the return of Boss Raptor, the brewery decided to stick to one recipe and release it as a permanent IPA in its lineup. Audacity plans on using this recipe as a base for future seasonal IPAs made with different flavor tweaks such as mango.

SERVE IT/PAIR IT: This beer is enjoyable on its own, and pairs easily with a wide variety of foods too. It's a good choice to drink while you're grilling, and with your meal as well.
