Selena Gomez is 'seeking treatment' for emotional issues after hospital stays

Selena Gomez is reportedly "seeking treatment" for emotional issues after suffering a panic attack during a hospital stay.

TMZ first reported the story, which People magazine confirmed.

The panic attack came during the second of two hospital stays that the singer-actress had in the past few weeks. Both came as a result of low white blood cell counts probably caused by a kidney transplant that she revealed in 2017.

A source told the magazine that "she realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She's surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She's doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast."

People also reports that Gomez is "undergoing dialectical behavior therapy, a therapy method designed to help try to identify, and then change, negative thinking and behavioral patterns."

The singer has been upfront about her battles with depression and anxiety. She's also talked about her fight with the chronic autoimmune disease lupus, which she talked about treating with chemotherapy in 2015. It led to the transplant of a kidney from her friend, fellow actress Francia Raisa (Grown-ish).

Gomez announced Sept. 23 on Instagram that she was stepping away from social media again, a huge step for the star once dubbed the "queen of Instagram" with 144.1 million followers.

Gomez is a native of Grand Prairie and started her career on Barney & Friends, which was filmed locally.
