Texas student receives guitar from former America bassist after losing his own in a dorm fire

SWEETWATER, Texas (AP) -- A guitar owned by a former member of the rock band America has been donated to a student and aspiring musician whose instrument was destroyed in a Texas dormitory fire.

Officials with Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater say the widow of bass player David Dickey provided the electric guitar for Isaiah Ornelaz.

More than two dozen students lost their possessions in this month's dormitory fire in Sweetwater, 190 miles (305 kilometers) west of Fort Worth. Nobody was hurt.
