Selena Gomez made Texas proud by escaping from a French elevator

Freakin' French elevators. They're always breaking down. Not like American elevators. Ours always work perfectly and without any sort of hitch. So maybe we shouldn't be surprised that an elevator in Paris almost swallowed Grand Prairie-raised singer Selena Gomez whole.

But like a true Texan, she fought bravely (some might say valiantly) and escaped with her life.

She unfortunately didn't give us much context for whatever diabolical plot lured her into the trap in the first place, Tweeting only, "That time we got stuck in an elevator in Paris..." Was it a inside job? Was she lured in there by a plate of cookies (honestly, that trick might work on me)?

In any case, she caught the whole thing on camera. No doubt she knew there should be a record of the incident in case things went real bad real fast.

And considering the outfit she was wearing at the time (seen in the Instagram video below), maybe it's a miracle she also escaped without anything else malfunctioning.

I'm personally tempted to point fingers at the woman we see outside of the elevator doors at the end of Gomez' video. She's clearly shocked, but I can't tell if her face says, "Thank God that pop idol Selena Gomez is OK!" or "Oh !@#$ our plan to trap Selena Gomez in Paris for ever has failed and my boss is going to kill me!" or "HOLY !@#$ there are people pouring out of this weird hole in the wall!"
