A change in ownership at the Cedars Social means "new life" for the cocktail den, those owners say.
PR and real estate guy Jeffrey Yarbrough inked a deal with Neiman Marcus' GM of restaurants Chad Boyle to rethink the restaurant and bar in Dallas' Southside neighborhood.
Yarbrough and Boyle will operate the business; Michael Martensen will remain the founding partner but will not be involved in day-to-day operations, Yarbrough says via email. He and Boyle took over the company July 1.
"I thought I had retired from running joints like this, but I just can't stay away," says Yarbrough in a statement.
The new partners plan to announce a new consulting chef in the future, who will likely create a new fall menu. The interior will remain the same except for the addition of new mid-century modern seating, Yarbrough says.
In 2013, Dallas Morning News restaurant critic Leslie Brenner named the bar as one of the best cocktail lounges in Dallas. She said "there's always something exciting to discover" with Martensen's cocktail list.
In late 2014, Gwyneth Paltrow listed it as one of her 10 favorite Dallas spots.
Jeremy Poyo, former GM at the Truck Yard, will be the new GM at Cedars Social.
