You may not be able to try house-brewed beer yet, but there are still plenty of indulgences at BrainDead Brewing.

The brewpub, which opened in early March on Main Street, boasts 30 draft taps and a chef-driven menu created by David Pena (formerly of Palomino). In fact, everything aside from the bread is made in house. That includes the stout-infused syrup used to make chocolate milk that comes with cookies for dessert, as well as the burger patty that's made from ground beef, brisket and bacon. The restaurant's chili recently won the people's choice and judge's choice awards at a local beer-chili cook-off at LUCK in Trinity Groves.

Even the little details count on this menu, like the chips that come two ways: fried in lard or fried in soybean oil, for all you veg-heads out there.

BrainDead makes beer from scratch, so it's only logical to make the food from scratch too, Pena recently told me. Feast your eyes upon what's cooking at the buzzy new brewpub in the gallery above. And if you're looking for late-night eats, keep this place in mind -- the restaurant serves a limited menu until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
