Enjoy Aurora without the thousands crowded in downtown Dallas

Being in the thick of thousands of people is just not for everyone. But no one wants to miss out on something great.

The organizers of Aurora, the interactive and immersive media art exhibition taking over the Arts District, have thought of the introverts among us. Two exhibits will be installed away from the main 19-block exhibition area:

Bagley, a native of Tennessee, works in Dallas. You may have heard of her sculpture, "Wildlife Water Theater," which was installed in White Rock Lake in 2001. Most recently it made the news because an engineering report said it needed to be removed from the lake.

Bagley's installation for Aurora is a video playing continuously looping DVDs depicting eyes staring at and around the viewer. The work poses the question, "Who is watching whom?"

Thanks-Giving Square will become one of the most immersive sites in Aurora for the single night of the exhibition.

St. Elsewhere is a collaborative exhibit that includes interactive art, live music, food and wine.

The art is being created by Ben Lewis, a Los Angeles-based mixed-media artist, Michael Hathaway, a Dallas-based artist specializing in 3D game design and immersive experiences, and Greg Petersen, of the Dallas-based digital production company Fill in the Blank.

Music will be provided by JT Donaldson, a DJ and Dallas-native with over 300 production credits to his name.

Food will be provided by Chad Houser, of Cafe Momentum, Katherine Clapner, of Dude, Sweet Chocolate and master dinner party planners House of Plates. Matt Thompson, of Wine Poste in Oak Cliff, will pair wine for the event.
